“Raised in the musically vibrant Washington, D.C. area, Peter began his career as a street performer and quickly became an active voice in the region’s jazz scene. During his senior year of high school, he received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award and an Outstanding Soloist Award at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival, earning a scholarship to continue his musical studies. Peter studied with renowned educator Dave Pope and later with composer and educator Steve Wiest, who nicknamed him “The Dragon” and featured him on the Lamont School of Music recording Ork vs. Dragon. His performance of the work earned another Outstanding Soloist Award at the UNC Greeley Jazz Festival. Now an in-demand freelance artist, Peter has performed alongside Steve Wilson, Jim White, Ernie Watts, John Hollenbeck, John Dearth, Adam Larson, and Greg Gisbert, and continues to build a dynamic career in jazz”
