The Jazz Standard Presents: Michael Arizmendi Cover

Michael Arizmendi is a 21-year-old multifaceted musician from Brownsville, Texas, exploring the limits of sound and genres. From playing the trumpet, the bass, and singing to writing his songs and rapping, Michael uses his art to spark change, inspire connection, and speak honestly about the world in and around us. In High School, he was chosen for Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra for 2 consecutive years and was also selected to perform with the Veterans Memorial Early College High School quintet at the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) Conference in San Antonio. The following year in college the inaugural Berklee trumpet section—which Arizmendi was a part of—was also selected to perform for ITG in Minneapolis. Michael has also performed alongside Kris Davis, The California Honeydrops, and Marquis Hill. He has been mentored by jazz legends such as Terri Lynn Carrington, Steve Davis, Tiger Okoshi, Jason Palmer, and Billy Buss. After graduating from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Professional Music (Music Production, Performance, and Songwriting), Michael now resides in Austin, TX. He gigs, teaches, and records in and out of the city, with his newest single, “So High (To Get Away)” OUT NOW on ALL STREAMING PLATFORMS!
