The Alexa Torres & Mario Wellmann Quartet brings a captivating fusion of contemporary jazz and Latin American rhythm to the stage. Led by Latinx violinist and composer Alexa Torres—whose debut In Situ earned NPR airplay and national acclaim—and Chilean guitarist Mario Wellmann, a two-time DownBeat Award recipient, the group creates music that is both deeply personal and globally resonant. Their Fall 2025 tour explores the theme of reconstruction—rebuilding from fragments of melody, memory, and history. The repertoire draws from stories of Chile’s democratic rebirth, communities recovering from natural disasters, and the emotional landscapes of exile and diaspora. Anchored by the dynamic rhythm section of Guillermo López (Juilliard, Blue Note, Dizzy’s) and Daniel Dufour (Seamus Blake, Rotem Sivan, UT Austin), the quartet delivers an immersive performance where modern jazz expression meets the pulse of Latin America.
